Portus Romae

The ancient port of Rome, built for the emperor Trajan by Apollodoro of Damascus, in the year 100. The basin with its perfect hexagonal shape is an impressive work, which proved to be essential for the
provisions of Imperial Rome, who used its buildings for the storage of goods and for the maintenance of ships. Today it is artificially powered by the Tiber and boasts a remarkable fish flora, a colony of deer and at least 130 species of birds.
